Jackson College Oasis Center
Jackson College is here to support our students and employees in their personal mental health needs by providing a variety of free and confidential counseling services.
Services for Students
During a student’s college experience, one might encounter situations that impact their learning environment. When these situations occur, support from the Oasis Center is available to provide short-term assistance. If the situation requires ongoing support, the Oasis Center staff can provide that level of support or will assist the individual in securing an outside agency to provide it.
Meeting individually with a licensed mental health clinician in a confidential setting can help students:
- find clarity for their thoughts and feelings which may be overwhelming at times,
- increase their problem solving skills, and
- assist with improving their coping strategies.
A clinician can even help with:
- developing a plan for the future,
- time management,
- sleep schedules, and
- building life skills that will increase overall successfulness.
The Oasis Navigator is available to assist with identifying any needs a student might have and then connecting them with appropriate community resources and supports. The Navigator provides an additional layer of support for students and acts as a student advocate.
The Oasis Team is available to help students with:
- Stress management

Confidentiality
Oasis Center records are strictly confidential and cannot be given to anyone except as required by the law. Behavioral health files are managed by FSCA and not part of the Jackson College record system. If you have concerns or questions related to confidentiality, please contact the Oasis Center directly and a staff member can answer your questions.
Services for Employees
Everyone, at some point in life, faces problems. Juggling the demands of home and work life can be stressful. Often employees believe the problem or conflict will “blow over,” when in fact it lingers just below the surface, waiting to erupt. When faced with dilemmas, conflict or even what one might consider a small problem, talking to a trained professional is the best option, before the situation starts to impact relationships or job performance.
Does seeking support at the Oasis mean “everyone will know my business”? No. Support is confidential as both state and federal statutes prohibit disclosure of information about behavioral health services without written consent. Employee support is available at the Oasis Center and at Family Service and Children’s Aid main office, which is located in Downtown Jackson. The goal is for employees to be comfortable in seeking out support.
At the Oasis Center, the clinicians and staff are highly trained and experienced in helping employees and their families with a variety of concerns including:
- Stress, anxiety and depression
- Marital or relationship conflicts
- Family conflicts
- Adjusting to divorce
- Aging parent caregiving
- Financial stress
- Grief and loss
- Parenting concerns
- Alcohol and drug use
- Work-related conflicts and issues
